Hello
After finding this forum whilst looking for a MIG welder I have bought a second hand Clarke 160T, they seemed to be well regarded here, so thank you for the advice! I am a newcomer to MIG welding, I have had an Oxford Arc welder for years, but it is just too aggressive for the body of my Discovery, so I finally went for a MIG.
I have a few questions I could do with some help on..
Does anyone have a copy of the user manual for the 160T, the first owner lost them?
I will be welding mild steel, approx (1-1.5mm) thick, as I understand it the best gas to use is a 80:20 Argon:CO2 mix, is this correct?
Following on from this which is the best wire to use 0.6 or 0.8, over this range?
Can anyone recommend a place to get welding wire and service items like the wire liner, tips etc?
Does anyone know of a good refillable gas bottle supplier in the Birmingham (UK) area at a good price, I would rather not rent - I know its possible to just pay a single deposit for the bottle and then just refill it when you need to??
Thank you very much for any assistance anyone is able to provide!
