Hi there. Meirion here from N Wales. Just found your website, and may I say that this is the best informative site that I have come across on the internet.I am a novice mig welder although I am not too bad with a stick. Greetings Merrion. Welcome to the forum. The last time i went to Colwyn Bay i was about 7 years old. All i remember is the zoo had some strange (or not so strange) animals in it like chickens and donkeys! 
Oh and they had some great trampolines on the beachfront (circa early 1970's or so)
edit: I tell a lie i went back a few times in the mid 80s i think to see bands such as Theatre of Hate and the Damned at the Pier. Nver bothered with the zoo though, as it was dark when we were there
