Hi Guys
I've just bought a savage a40. I was recommended a parweld lid but they didn't have them in the local shop so i went with this.
Read on here that it's a decent helmet. Possibly overkill for me using my mig on the lowest setting but you might have seen my other post about arc eye fear!
Anyway the instruction book isn't as detailed as it could be for someone who has never had this kind of mask before so i just wanted to ask a couple of things.
The book tells you how to set the shade via the controls but it doesn't really explain what way you should set it for what you're doing. Is it just a matter of setting it so you can see without it being too bright?
Also, it's not clear from the book if the mask is ready to go out of the box. It say that before using it you must remove the films from the front spatter lens. So i undid the screws and slid the front spatter lens out. Spent a good five minutes scrabbling at the edges of the lens but could not detect any film. There was a film on the inner protection lens though! It was quite easy to remove. Anyone remember getting one of these and what they did before using it?
And if anyone has any other tips to share on using one of these for the first time I'm all ears. Well, eyes in this case.
Cheers
