New Machine

is this worth the money, can it do the job, will it last, will be useing it for motorcycle jobs, ie welding tanks and strutts and stuff, it will be my first welder as my buddys are sick of me borrowing thiers

not a big fan of machine mart, but looking to buy something that will stand the test of time and can be fixed when it goes wrong, willing to buy from anywhere that isnt MM, is there a similar machine from another manufacturer?
are clarke any good, have read a few posts on here and clarke seem to get the thumbs up

Welcome to the forum spindle
Your link took me by surprise, I'm so used to clicking links to smaller Clarke machines, not many point to machines as big as that .
If you're considering spending that sort of money you could get a far better machine than that. There's a member on here called weldequip, look him up in the members list and send him a PM to see what he can do for you .

Many members (myself included ) makes the mistake of buying a machine that's too underpowered so they run it on it's limits. My mistake was buying a 220A machine due to it's claimed spec, I've now got a 360A one.

Have you considered getting a TIG welder? If you're looking to do tanks like the one top right then I'd go with TIG rather than MIG. They're also (arguably?) better for tube work.

the welding in the pics was done with a tig, but the amount of welding i will do wont justify the cost of renting the bottle, please advise if i'm ******* in the wrong direction

What about brazing with an Oxy Acetylene a lot of older custom bikes were done this way? What do the rest of you think?
