To reduce global CO2 levels the EU have issued a directive to combat pollution caused by industrial gasses. In response BOC have produced Vacco Gas.
Instead of filling cylinders with a polluting gas (Especially CO2 which is released into the atmosphere during MIG welding), the new cylinders are filled with a synthetic vaccuum, this has the effect of removing the air from the area around the arc thus eliminating contamination of the weld.
The most revolutionary part of this process is that as the Vacco Gas leaves the bottle the air and welding fumes take its place, this allows the contaminants to be disposed of safely when the bottle is sent for unfilling.
A BOC spokesman said this new product will turn the welding process inside out, bottle rental is free with a re-emptying charge of £10.00, paid to the customer when exchanging the bottle.
