Hi All,
New member here. I've just bought a 2nd hand TIG for home use. A Murex 201is. Which I expect will be fine for what I want to do.
I race classic bikes, therefore I'm always in need of doing the odd bit of steel on the frames/brackets etc. Also plenty of alloy castings which need repair modification.
Anyway.... my first question.
There are so many online shops selling all the consumables, tungsten’s, fillet wire etc etc. Who do you guys recommend? I was going to get stuff off ebay but it makes sense to buy it all in one go. Although so far I've noticed you can get packs of tungsten’s for half the price of some of the shops?
What fillet wire would people recommend for me to purchase? I will be doing mild steel and maybe the odd bit of Renolds 531. Aluminium wise is a minefield, as any castings are 40years old and of unknown composition. I have heard 4043 rods are a good bet? Is this right? Also what’s the difference between 4043 and 4043a, the latter being found on ebay.
