nice to be back ,been flat out this year well question is to i have gone and had a new stove have not had much time to make a new one well the thing is do i need a damper on the fire the one i have had as got one but looking at it ,it looks pritty pointless to me for where it is need to do some work on it but what are your views on the damper

The damper restricts the draw from the flue and therefore reduces the airflow into the firebox.

Crude but effective volume control for your stove.

Never keen on flue dampers, it's a poor solution to a badly sealed firebox.
