Not so many years ago that was a technique used by Allegro etc owners for getting around the country for less, but no slower than usual.
Which makes me ask - does it cost the trucking company more to be slipstreamed by a deathwish tightwad? (Chunko would call that a deathtwad, or sim)

Brilliant idea by Dr Noitt All.

They missed the point that it would also stop BMWs colliding with each other head on, the magnets would repel each other, assuming they're all fitted the same way round!

It was pinned up on the wall at work, where we develop energy saving technology for, er BMW. And one of the directors at our place is called Uve!

Makes me wonder if we're a bit of a joke an' all...

My favourite was the spare steering wheel that popped out of the glove box when you opened it. Pedals dropped down and you were all set for continental driving.

It was a really top quality full page in one of the dailys. It had me hook, line and sinker. I spent ages trying to work out how they had done it until somebody pointed out the date.

That must have been 20 years ago at least.

Thinking about it -------- If cars were fitted with north pole magnets at the front and south at the rear they could all travel in convoy and when one slowed down it and all the cars behind would switch to north front and rear to avoid a pile-up.
