New Bench shears advice/opinions please

After my post about the damaged jaws inflicted on my Keetona shears, it looks as though they are knackered. Ho Hum.
damage was inflicted by an enthusiastic participant in one of my sculpture classes. I debated asking them to contribute but that feels mean spirited and they said they might be back. Five guys for two days is very lucrative.
So I figured take the hit and manage people better inn future. Even remove the handle off the shears, or probably have them off limits.
i cant find Keetona anywhere. The old ones had 150mm jaws and were rated for 5mm strip and 4mm sheet. I cut heaps of 5mm strip with them and never use them on round or square bar.

Anybody got any reccomendations for me? I dont mind paying for quality and i'd prefer to buy new

I've just got a bench sheer. It's a Chinese one badged as Vevor. It came from Germany. I paid £85 delivered off eBay. It's the 300mm version. It's identical to those Chester ones.
I've only just got it, I don't think I could cut 6mm without a longer handle! Cuts 3mm like butter.

Like most Chinese tools, It will make a decent tool after some fettling. One of the pivot bolts is a set screw and pivots on the thread. This will be changed for a bolt with some plain shank on which to pivot. Also I plan to drill and tap some holes between the bottom, fixed blade bolts for some grub screws to adjust the blade towards the moving blade. I've seen this on more expensive shears.
I'm quite happy with it, but I'm sure it will be even better after some fettling.

Mr C have you thought of getting your original blades ground ? Assuming that the hardening they have goes deep enough. As the bottom blade is adjustable it should be possible to then reset the correct gap. Should only need grinding on side faces.

There’s a 160mm version too. They are pretty good to be honest, I think they’re identical to the Atlas branded ones in all but colour.

Oh and they have a proper hole in the blade for bar cutting as well!

It looks like he has 11 different types, hopefully one of which will fit. A bit of wet & dry on a piece of glass will polish off the patina.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I have a Hills ‘Hilshear’ that I acquired a while back (as you do!) that I’d like to restore, however it needs blades. I’m unlikely to find decent ones so I was thinking about making them. Any advice re grade of steel, hardening etc.?
