Nesting software for plasma cutting

Hi guys,

Ive searched high and low today for some nesting software for complex DXF files. I do have a copy of genio bu8t its stopped working. So im basically in it up to my meck and am looking for a piece of software.

I dont mind what thequality is like as ong as it does its job. ie imports dxf and stuffs them into a plate nesting!

Any ideas were i can get one for free or a few and I mean a few quid!

I use sheet cam, not free but inexpensive, supports dxf and allows you to nest, copy and edit stop and start points, exports to G code and has online support for codes to set things like THCs.....

Free nesting software, no such thing!
One of the 'cheapest' I know is Vectric Vcarve, but that costs a few quid.
Trouble with using a 'generic' nesting package is that it will only output a full sheet as a DXF file, so the plasma package will then machine the sheet how it likes, instead of cutting the individual parts out.
You can programme sheetcam to cut the individual parts out, but it is a pain if you have to do a lot
With plasma software that has nesting built in, it will be optimised to cut each part out separately

Maybe you can try the NestProfessor, it would output nesting result as DXF file. it is a simple nesting application may can help you!

VCarve Pro is a great prog for working with DXF and has nesting too...I use it with my plasma CNC setup - but only occasionally as I usually nest by hand with Sheetcam - a brilliant program!

I stumbled into this thread without knowing a thing about welding, so don't take me seriously.
Looking at the links on this page, I found these prices
$158 Sheetcam
$380 Nestprofessor or $480 as part of a cutleader bundle (? I think) using C|net for prices and an old link from a coupon site for the Cutleader price
£395 for Vectric VCarve pro on their web site this January 2015
$1,180 US for Tangenta pro - no price given for their "plus" version

Suggestions on this set of notes on my blog go from $25 up, but I don't really know a thing about these programs either, and have not yet got the $25 one to load shapes without rectangles round them.
