Needing carbon brushes

I am needing some carbon brushes for a small motor I have, the original brushes measure 3.1mm x 2.33mm x maybe 5 or 6mm long. They are also the type with the bonded in wire and a spring.
Anyone know where I can get such a thing? doing a google search is getting me no where. The closest I have come is 3mm x 3mm which would have been fine as I could have filed one side down but they just have a spring and no centre wire.

Have gone through about 20 pages on eBay already and it was doing my head in, the only ones I found close dimensionally were the 3x3 previously mentioned, yes bigger ones can be filed down but the springs will be too big a diameter.
I will probably just end up ordering the 3mm x 3mm spring only ones and seeing if I can adapt the brush holder to suit.

cant u use the caps of the old brushes that go over the spring end and even use the old springs

Try a place that repairs electric tools, one near me said they made there own brushes.

Brush wore out, popped out the holder and mangled the spring. I could use the original tab but that would require a brush with a wire.

Don't know of any such places up this way, there used to be a couple but they have long since gone

I have alway gone to Engineering Carbon in Croydon, mainly cos they are close and
brushes usually cost a quid in the coffee jar. And they alway make me coffee while I
wait.

I have ordered the 3mm ones I saw on eBay so hopefully I will manage to get them to fit.

The brushes will be no probs, just whether I can adapt the tops to work will be the issue. If not at least I should have springs the correct diameter which will mean I can file down bigger brushes that incorporate a wire.

how about Wardaw in dundee or scottish electric if they are still around . is the wire in the centre or to the side how about h lamp washer pump motor brushes ive seen a few in motors like that

Not sure if they would have anything as small but possibly.
Having said that I got the ones from eBay and filed them down on width to fit. The problem was however the spring was too big a dia by 0.2mm
I opened up a few switches I had and found a few springs that were smaller and then I opened up a Schneider switch block and found two perfect springs in it Managed to slip a bit brass between the spring and then solder the wire on and then I placed the brushes/springs in and used Araldite Rapid to hold them in place. It seemed to work although possibly not ideal as the brushes that came were under the 3mm advertised so there is a bit more slop than I had hoped for, how long it will last I don't know.

I thought Wardah had closed down but just looked online and they are still on the go.
The wire was central, the brushes are only 3.1mm x 2.33mm

I may see if Pittman will supply brushes although when I contacted them previously they told me the motors were specially made for a customer so I would have to contact them for a spare motor, problem was they just said to contact Burisch and gave no further details.
I have however found similar sized motors on Pittmans site so maybe the brushes and brush holders from them will fit.
