need to get a part made for a trike im building with kids.
it holds the gear cluster from rear wheel onto axle.

anyone know anywhere near wf15 area, im between leeds and huddersfield.
have included drawing from plans.

That drawing is a bit misleading showing the 1.5" diameter on the 1.375" thread! Could you not adapt a cycle rear hub to fit on the shaft or does it have to be made this way?

Is the 24tpi correct for 1.375"? I recall having some bother in the dim and distant past with 24 & 26tpi threads on cycles at school.

I think the 24tpi is correct for British Standard Cycle Thread which is a 60 degree thread profile. You also really need to state whether its left or right hand thread

There ought ot a way of adapting something to do the job. machining coats money; an awful idea. Cant the piece the freehub screws onto be chopped off another wheel

I correct myself, amend and make do! I might start a new thread, 2.5tpi BSCkolini. 26tpi was all the rage back then pre Thatcher and you knew where you stood man, boy and menstrual cycle.

got told to ring firm that specialises in taps and dies and was quoted 200 for a die.

Will have a look in the box labeled "special threads" at work. We did use cycle thread on a few bits we made and some was left hand so we might be in luck

If not could alway thread cut on the lathe!

Gear sets are usually mounted on the right side of a bicycle wheel hub so will be a RH thread. I wouldn't try to cut that with a die, it'll come out crooked. Turning on a lathe is the way, or chopping up a wheel hub and making an adapter.

You can buy these ready made. I don't have a link at present but have found them easily in the past with Google search. In fact just done search for freewheel adapter and this crops up http://www.sickbikeparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=139

The thread is exactly the same as a bottom bracket. That means it you get a crank bearing cup then it's the right thread to mount a freewheel.

That is what other people do so one of the cheapest options. You can buy "shaft collars" and if you weld to that then even removable.
