Need to borrow a trailer and tow vehicle ?

I need to collect a stationary engine from Devon and the seller cannot load into a van as his loading shovel can only lift from above and can only be available at weekends. So hiring a van is no use and it rules out carriers.
What I need is a trailer capable of handling 600KG on a pallet, and a suitable tow vehicle.

Does anyone on here in the Worcester area with such things fancy loaning or hiring them to me for a non scary price ?

Alternatively, if anyone makes the journey from the EX22 area of Devon routinely and fancies doing the collection there's a drink in it for you

I Hired one from Coventry, it was urm £50 ish with a £100 deposit. It was a 4 wheeled braked trailer 14ft * 7ft

If it goes on a pallet it's not worth trying to go anywhere near it unless you absolutely have to. Palletways is far more cost effective.

bite the bullet and hire a flat bed or dropside your only putting off the inevitable

LOL ! Not on the ones I seem to hire ! They're always dogs with whiny diffs, groaning and creaking suspension, max speed of 50 down hill, valve radio's that only receive one station and thats cr4p !! Drop sides are always the worst, having been abused by hundreds of builders !

Surely the vendor can lift the engine onto the pallet during the week ?, normally pallet line etc use tail lift lorries and carry a pallet truck and long as hes about when they collect to sign the paperwork that would work wouldnt it ?

Yeah, get him to prep it on a pallet on hardstanding, they will usually pick up & leave the paperwork if no-one there. Way cheaper than hiring a van / flatbed - especially if you value your time.

Not too mention your fuel costs!
I bet the Fifty pounds Palletline charge wouldn't fuel you to Devon and back by any means of transport that would carry a pallet.

Thats the sticking point at the moment, the Saturday collection. It's already on a pallet but pallet companies only collect Mon to Fri and there is no one at the collection location during that time. I'm not willing to trust this being out in the open for collection without the seller being there.
I've resorted to begging him, so I'll see if he cooperates.

thats what i was going to say we are in the van day in day out and its not uncomfortable

JUst done a trip from Haslemere to Clun in a hired dropside pickup, and I concur with Tigler LDV on a 53 plate, I cant quite belive they had the cheek to charge for this heap.
Seat adjustable one way only back and fore, radio only found one channel radio static, mirrors that blew around in the breeze great experience on the motorways I can tell you, more clunks and bangs whines than a bag of old spanners.
Oh and ps, no air con, air seat or electric windows, the only good thing about it was I got back in one bit without losing the deposit, so it cant be all bad.

Anyway very soon the beast it collected will be in the projects section, when I start working on it.
