Need someone with a lathe in Manchester

I need to fit a trigger wheel to the crankshaft pulley of my track car so I can get the EFI working. The usual method seems to be to build up the pulley with JB weld type stuff, then machine it down to the right size for the trigger wheel. Once you determine the correct position for the trigger, you butter the wheel with JB then stick the wheel in place. I can get JB weld type stuff, but will have to improvise a lathe type tool thing with my pillar drill. I CAN do this, but it may not be perfect.

It'd be a lot better to do it the right way, so anyone around Manchester with a lathe that could do the job in return for some beer vouchers??

What engine is it for ? As you can get bolt on trigger wheels with 36-1 patterns quite cheap and easy to get hold of.

It's a BMW M10, I can get a crank pulley that's made for a trigger wheel, but they are £120ish from the USA. Much better to get a tenners worth of epoxy and DIY it using one of the pulleys I already own. I have the trigger wheel already, it's just the machining down the epoxy I need doing.

should have read the post properly do you stick it on the front or the back of the pulley?

Basically the pulley from front to back is a cone with the pointy bit at the engine, big end at the front. Alternator belt is at the front. JB weld to build up a rim behind the belt groove, machined down to the right size for your trigger, then you make a bracket to bolt to the lower two water pump bolts which holds the EDIS sensor.

Found a lathe in our workshop, but it's a wood one, no proper chuck. Did a bit of improvising (turned conical bits of wood to hold the pulley, but they kept working loose).

So this is the concept

Original pulley, pulley with trigger wheel sitting on it to show how the pulley is smaller than the trigger, second pulley with chemical metal on it, partially machined, and with the trigger sitting on top. I need that step machining out so the trigger wheel just fits on, but can be twisted around to adjust final position prior to sticking it.

The blue stuff is marker pen - was trying to mark how far in I needed to machine!
