hi guys I ended up getting a Clarke 130en and this is my first try .the problem I got is I tried it on setting 2 on min and wire speed on 4 and it blows threw so I put it down to 1/min and wire speed on 6 and it turn out like this and has warped a 2 mm plate. and I can see daylight threw it . I was trying to weld 4 strips of 2mm plates about 2 inches wide together

Hi I would try and get the hang of getting the wire speed matched to the power settings.
Set your power switches to required settings
Start wire speed off at lowest setting and slowly turn it up as you are welding (one hand on the trigger on on the wire speed adjustment) you are there when it sounds like bacon frying a nice sizzling sound

the problem I got is the booklet that I got with it covers clarkes 110en,110e,130en,135te . so I did try on the settings which is for 2 mm thick should be 2/max and wire speed 7 and it just kept blowing threw . I have been trying to do it with the gasless wire they gave me and once I got the use to it I was going to change it to gas

buy your self some decent gasless wire, makes all the diffrence.prefer sif my self.

robostar5 . I have tried to use the wire and speed calculator and but when it say how many power setting what would I put . say it has 2 switches 1 say 1 and 2 and the other saying max and min . I understand how to lay it down its just how to set the right speed and power

That would be 4 power settings, min 1, min 2, max 1, max 2

so for 2mm plate I should have it on 3 which is 1 max and wire speed 3.5 roughly if I go by the wire and speed calculator. what difference would gasless wire make on the speed and power

right this is my welding now . I have set it to 1/min and wire speed on 7. the blurred pic is the back of the welds. how is this . I need advice . my dad said welders has change since he done it 30 years ago . so he couldn't help much on how to set it up. I have been reading the tutorials on here . but I need advice on where I'm going wrong or right

The pic of the back of the sheet indicates that you're getting decent penetration, but the front shows a lot of 'stuttering' and proud welds which may not have as much fusion as you would like. I would say that this indicates you need to work more on the wire feed rate. With so few power options the wire feed control will likely be very sensitive so just alter it a few degrees at a time. Don't forget that it gives you a bit more 'fine tuning' of the voltage/amperage at the same time.
Many advise that you start a weld with this control somewhat lower than you think is correct and then turn it slowly up as the weld progresses. At some point you should hear that 'bacon sizzling in the pan' noise that indicates the power setting is correct.

it was stuttering a lot until I turned it down to 7 from 9 . that's when I done the angle ones and the straight one in between the lumpy ones

I too would say the issue is the wire speed, the figures you're working to are just a rough guide to get you in the correct region, you now need to fine tune it. Very slowly adjust the feed rate while welding.

how can I get my welds to penetrate more because once I grind the top down I can break the weld with my pliers . I have my welder on 1-min and wire speed 7 the metal plate is 2mm thick and I have a Clarke 130en welder .I have tried turning the wire speed up but it then stutters and jumps . I have tried turning the power to 2-min and turning the wire speed right down but it just blows threw

Why don't you have one hand on the torch and the other on the wire speed, I'd turn it up slowly as you weld, and listen to the sound, it should be a constant sound of bacon frying, it should be smooth, don't worry about the wire speed being up high, my mig welder is always up near wire speed 7, or get someone to turn it slowly while you watch what's happening

What about turning the wire speed down? Not necessarily all the way down to 6, like I said, slowly adjust it while welding. Very fine adjustment may be called for.
You might also be moving the torch much too fast.

What gap are you leaving from tip to work piece and what gas are you using if it is co2 you may need to modify your shroud to sit flush with tip

I am not using gas . I was just trying to learn with what came with it gasless wire and about 5mm off the plate

Is your machine setup for gassles wire ie. r you using your machine reverse polarity(ground lead + torch - )
Gassles is poor tho IMO gas is much easier to use

yeah it is set for gasless and I have sorted it out . I was running the wire feed to quick . turned it down to 4 ish and the welds have sunk and I showed my mate who does welding and he reckons its better than my local garage that done some welding for him
