If it’s a proper landy you don’t “lift” them on to the bonnet you roll them on…Try lifting a 7.50 x 16 wheel onto the bonnet of a Landy

Never had an issue with my Discovery 2's spare wheel on the back door. It was an ideal place for it.
I've seen a few ideas. Tempted to say that your solution is overkill based on what I've seen.
On Masters like mine (other vans too) the wheel carrier has been piggy-backed off the hinges of one of the barn doors. The horizontal arm can then either be bolted through the door skin with a strengthening plate inside, and/or a triangulated support brace down to the lower hinge area. All this in stuff like 30mm box.
Yes you're adding weight to the door hinges but people report no issues if it's built to spread the weight, and it means it's all in 1 piece with the door rather than flapping around.
I do rather like the alternative "hinge-down" solution of @tom2207 - though ideally it'd be offset so that the first-opening door of the pair could still be opened without having to drop the wheel every time you wanted access..... that might get old, fast. Other than that though it butters a lot of parsnips - weight low, hinges onto the floor out of the way, can add a step or platform on its back etc.
(My camper I've used all the space up too - and so far I have no Spare, it would be a nuisance getting in the way of something in my garage/services area. So far, I carry 2 tins of Squirty Goop, and a Tyre Plug kit.... as I carry a bike track pump for the MTB anyway).
