Need a wooden cover making

I know we have a few wood bothers on here.

I need a wooden cover for my 24” surface plate. Needs to be nice smooth wood that can be painted black.

happy to pay.

I guess it could be routed out of a piece of solid?

Here’s the one off my small surface. I guess it plywood with a pine edging.

just cut up a piece of ply , say a couple of inches over , get the rest of the ply cut into battens and glue them round the side to make a lip , run a flap disc over the sharp edges , wouldnt take half an hour , jobs a good un.
stick a couple of bits of rubber inside on the corners and the wood wont sit on the table and make it sweat , or oil the timber on the inside ,,,
or fold an alloy one ,,, ten min job.

Just imagine it's really thick metal!

Except don't use the mig on it!

There’s a reason they use wood not aluminium. Wood won’t sweat unless it literally gets rained on.

hence the four little rubbers in the corner idea. sort of like toaster feet .
