Evening all, its been a while since I was on here...
I've got a nu-tools 185 mig, which works quite well, but for the switch...
It was bought with one position faulty on the switch, but this has recently decreased to only having positions 1 and 6 functioning...
So, I've taken the switch apart, and can see the problem. The little plungers are burred and jamming - no problem. But, the original problem is that the bit of the cam for position 5 has broken off, so it closes the contact at the wrong point, and I suspect shorts out one set of windings in the welder, so the wrong windings are energised, and so no weld current happens. That or its burnt out that particular winding...
I can't find an equivalent switch anywhere, the one fitted is a Sprecher + schuh LE 2-16. The 16 means 16amps, and the closest I can find on ebay is a 12, I've asked the guy how many positions it has on it.
Does anyone have a 6 position 16amp switch that I can buy off them? I should be able to wire a replacement switch in, with care. Or, does anyone have a dead nu-mig that I can grab the switch from?
Or, any better thoughts?
Ta!
