Hello,
I used to use a flux core welder, I'm a hobbyist and have been using this for a couple of years. I finally got tired of the splatter and purchased a 3 in 1 welder 220V MIG, TIG, Stick which is new to me. I purchased a pneumatic Y adapter to switch between tanks for the MIG and TIG. I checked for leaks at every connection and the Y valve and had no leaks. The issue is I have to hold down the trigger to adjust the cfm which I'm sure I didn't have to do when the MIG tank was directly attached to the welder so I now release the wire feed hold down to adjust the pressure. I'm just not sure what the difference is as the argon tank is shut off from the loop with only the MIG tank open. I can always just attach the MIG tank directly to the welder but thought it would convenient to be able to just switch between tanks with the Y valve. Looking for advice from the experienced welders, is there different way to be able to switch between MIG and TIG tanks without having to disconnect/connect each tank directly to the welder?
I've read 2 reasons for the Burn Back adjustment, one being it controls the amount of wire sticking our of the gun after stopping the weld. The other was it gets rid of balls that form on the tip of the wire after stopping the weld. I've worked with the adjustment but am still not sure exactly what this adjustment does. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Gary
