hey first time here. i was looking to start a project. i am only 21 and i am just getting started. i was thinking of welding together a hydraulic log splitter. i dont know its only an idea. what do you think or has any one got any better first project. i dont want a hard project just something easy to get me started. plenty of time for the harder ones later lol

Build a chopper/freakbike.
Get a cheap narrrsty pushbike and sort it out, have a look at www.rat-ratpatrol.org check out the uk pages and go. It is a great way of learning to weld on a real thing, not doing neat excercises but making something real, a good learning process, problem solving etc and a great laugh. Just Dont Butt Weld your forks. Kill Kill Kill. dont fret about workmanship apearance or any of that nonsense just make the bloody thing rideable, another tip, have at least one functional brake before you get aboard it. Ahem.
Go Go Go. Chop Cut Kill Destroy Chop that bike and bring some Joy.

Absolutely ridiculous. I'm off to collect an unwanted mountain bike this afternoon. I've no idea what it will become yet but I won't be using the Halfords catalogue for inspiration.
