okay I got this with a lathe I bought from one of the members on here.
It's a chuck of some description, with a morse taper which fits into the tailstock. But's unlike any chuck I've seen before and seems like a very heavy duty over-engineered solution fo simply holding straight shank bits.
Does it have another more specific use?
It has a hex formation which tightens up but it's not bigh enough to hold hex-shaped dies.
