Am I guessing correctly that these are for a sewing machine? perhaps @mrsbruce might be able to cast a professional eye to confirm?

Yes, they look like sewing machine things. I've got a Singer catalogue that shows some of them, but it's not here, it's in the drawer under the machine in my shed. The one in the top right, just below and to the left of that spring, looks like a hemming foot, or in my case, a special thing for making the rod loops in a headliner. You alter the depth of the hem by undoing one or both of those thumbscrews and sliding the right-hand section along. The sticky-up bit on the left hand end of that item appears on a lot of others, and it is the section that screws onto the machine to hold the foot in place.

What happens at 8 and 10?
Should 8 be "I really need to stop", and if you get to 10 that's it, game over?

1 and 2 appear to be "Rufflers", for gathering the edge of material to produce, well, a "ruffled" effect.
3 is the thing I referred to as a hemmer, but my catalogue suggests it's a "Tuckmaker". I'm not actually sure what the difference is.
4 is the adjustable hemmer. I now can't remember whether I used 3 or 4 to do my headliner.
5 looks like a "foot hemmer", the same thing but for small hems by the look of it.
6 doesn't appear in my catalogue, but there's one in the drawer under my machine. Same for some of the other smaller bits.
I think the hook thing is to help threading the machine, but better eyesight would be more help I think.
