Myford ML7 spares

Hello

Recently I acquired a ML7,its not really my bag so its up for sale.During my inspection of it I discovered two damaged gears.I was wondering who everyone uses for their spares and what size allen key is required to loosen the cap on the back gear cluster? I live in Norway,it took me two weeks to find some imperial allen keys,looks like it might take me two weeks more to find another set for this tiddly screw.

Thank you,I can't get the calipers in there though. I will try and push some clay into the hole and measure that.

I think that capscrew is 2BA (check its description in the parts diagram in the manual). If so, it is a 5/32" A/F allen key you need. A 4mm allen key and a slip stone would also do it. To undo that when the lathe is assembled, you need a key with a short leg on it.

one other thing soak that part in diesel in a small tub stood up is best way

as it will allow the diesel to soak into those parts as that machine has been used for woodwork by the look of it

You are quite right,it is a 2BA. I will make up a tool to undo it after I have stoned a allen key,it does look quite a bit smaller than a 4mm.

you can pick the backgears up from ebay sometimes for around 50 quid .a new one isnt worth buying for the price
