I was fed up with the buttons falling off so I drilled them all out and pop riveted them back on with washers behind . unfortunately on was missing so I made a new one in the lathe!

On the original design there was a strengthening rivet at the bottom of the zip. Once the then CEO of the company went camping and was crouching by the camp fire. The rivet picked up the radiant heat which was then conducted inwards.

OUCH!

On his return home the design was modified to eliminate this rivet!

Those buttons falling off would be a perk, IMHO. I'm sure those button up jeans must have been designed by a woman who absolutely hates blokes. It's the only reason I can envisage why someone would make something so awkward to get open when you're bursting for a wazz. The holes always seem to be way too small for the buttons. You practically have to prise the beggars out. In my book, button up jeans mean constantly flying low to save the hassle.
