This on the back of my solar thermal thread.
Before I go to the trouble of fitting solar panels of any sort I'm thinking I should strip and re-felt the hip end of my roof where they're going. Dates from the late 80s. It's not been done well tbh, is saggy so wasps etc get in. The hip tiles are loose, where it meets the gutter at the eaves is all shot.
Rough plan is some sort of scaffold, take a few days off and me and my lad sort it. Plus fit solar brackets.
View from the SW from nextdoor's garden. Those conifers do get cut back so shading won't be an issue.
This crack worries me a bit. I think the corner of the house might be sinking
I just went and sat up on the peak with a long tape. 15 rows of tiles:
Inside you access the hip through this door:
There's three purlins. Two are supported by rough stud walls. (Done by the previous owner). Used to have a chimney up through the hip, you can see where it was.
