my project its not great and need help

ok its a mini which i brought a year ago and was told it was a (solid) shell so after taking the paint back i soon started to see that it was not a solid shell. i hope to order the wings and stuff some time this week. does any one know of any good books on restoation ?? or welding ?? i love reading all sorts of thinks like this.

thank you for that i visited it and had errors so will try again later :-) altho i could feel it to be a long process just waiting for it to be moved to my other work shop which my brother is currently using with all our tools. the plan soon is to finish stripping it
remove the subframes
load it on the back of our truck take it to my yard to
finish the sanding
tidy the cuts up and cut other parts off
bring it back to the work shop here
weld the new pannels on
and strip down the metro and honda crx

i think ill be buying that one from water stones tomorrow night :-)

does any one have any ideals wot i should do with this mini my money situation is tight but being a scap murchants son i have at my will a

metro 1.4 k serise engine with 4 spead gear box and everything with it and
a honda crx del sol 1.5 ve tech engine with everything as well.

The K-series has been fitted into Minis, I think they fit the whole engine/front subframe assembly, so you get the steering and brakes as well.

I've had a couple of valvers, one was a b16a honda vtech, and was in a round nose all standard on a custom frame, and the other was a rover 2 litre turbo on a mgf rear subframe in the front.
The mgf rear sub is the same as the metro front sub, but well reinforced, you just remove the lower wishbones and fit metro ones with a metro rack.
The crx 1.5 you have will not pull as ahard the b16a but its better than the a series.
Take out the front sub from the metro, just lift the body off it, then take out the engine.
There are a few places that sell driveshafts to go from the honda 'box to metro hubs, go onto the 16v mini club forum and look.
The whole job is a lot easier if you fit a clubman front.
Enjoy the project, and you will be surprised how good it'll be, both mine snotted along.

thanks for that dr pepper and all who posted in my thread. as i been toying around in my garage for the last few days now wot a pain in the bak side my mini has become its just full of rust. its gunna be a lot more work then i thought of. and i really am toyying wiv the ideal of a club man front end as i like the clubmans very much
