My parcel has gone to someone else!

Hi last week i got my mum to send out a parcel for me. im returning it back to the company i got it from as its the wrong item.

The box had a return address already on it but my mum came back with it saying the bloke at the post office said that the address wasnt a specific address it was just unit 1. well i told my mum the company name was URT1 limited but he said there wasnt a company called that round there when there is. anyway it was sent out and i just tracked it and it says it has been signed for. i rang them up and they aid they dont have it.

What can i do about this? i dont know if its my mums fault for not writing the company name on it or the bloke at the post office that sent it out anyway.

It was quite expensive item. i dont think i could get my money back from royal mail because they deliverd it. but surely the bloke delivering the parcel is at fault too? as if it didnt have a company name on should he of just kept hold of it?

Unfortunatly i didnt put a return address on it

any ideas?

Surely if it was sent back as tracked mail then you can claim through the post office and let them sort it out ?

If its been signed for the signature should be proof of delivery, Royal mail need to tell you the persons name so that you can challenge the recipient, although on the odd occasion when things have gone astray for me, the courier has always investigated for me.

Return addresses on parcels & letters are for the PO to return it if they can't deliver it. If your mum sent it back she should have put a new label on, the company address as the primary address and her own address as the return address.

Try to find the name of the guy who signed for it. If there is noone of that name at the company sounds like it's gone to the wrong address or the postie's nicked it.

I would, its their responsibility to deliver it safely, you could also ring the company and ask if they have someone of that name.

Ask the recipient if they have a Hurst working there and if so what he did with the parcel. I'd take a screendump of the webpage and print it out just in case it disappears.

Dont think you have much of a chance there, the PO forfilled their obligation and delivered to the address on the parcel, not their fault.
At best i wouldnt go bull at a gate style be the opposite they may help you in some way.
Now if it wasnt delivered or lost/stolen you wouldnt get much back any way, forget off hand think its but less than £26 and a lot of hassle.

The only way you will get money out of the PO is to use Special Delivery in either of the three insurance rates.

Of course the recipient could be dodgy and deny as its a lost sale!

I had some stuff nicked out of my porch, with the carrier claiming it had been signed for, which it had.

The signature was A.Porch.

The company I ordered from were good as gold and did all the claiming etc., they just sent me a new item.

Just because it has a signature doesn't mean it has gone to the right place.

I also lost an entire Amazon order because someone else signed for it, when I looked at the sig. online it was just a scribble.

I wouldn't go ape at the Post Office, it's probably not their fault, in this case, even though they are usually a lazy bunch of barstewards

Your only recourse is if the parcel was insured, which it should have been. If it wasn't insured then more fool you I'm afraid, as the insurance is cheap as

Yeah it was insured but i dont think i will be able to get my money back becuase its not really royal mails fault.

To be honest i really not in the mood to be phoneing up royal and there lost item forms. Because really it wasnt lost.

I think i will just have to let it go :[ Learnt my lesson anyway

yeah - if the PO delivered it to the wrong address they're liable.

If it went to the right address and the company lost it then they pick up the tab.

The company i was sending it back to said they have looked for it but its not there. But they are still giving me a full refund result :P

about 70quid. Plus 10 quid for postage which they are also refunding me :] but still who wants to loose 70 quid lol and money is tight at the mo
