my oxford 110

just bought an old oxford 110 arc and it seems to be ok, thing is have I got the right connections? there is 50v, 80v and "work"
now is work the earth or is it the electrode? I've been using it the way it came with "work" being the earth and 50v the electrode.
does it matter?

That is the correct way round for normal use. The two different output voltages mean you can run specialist rods which need a higher OCV.
The correct term for the earth clamp is 'work return'.

On an AC machine the polarity does not really matter.

50V for most rods. 80V for specialty rods or thin work; check the rod box if they say a minimum OCV.
