My Nova Project..

Hi, recently joined so i thought i would share some of my project pictures with you all.

Its a 1993 Vauxhall Nova that i am using for shows and eventually i want to track it. It was originally a 1.4 8v injection engine, but i am fitting a 2.0 16v from an Astra GTE, built with my own fair hands!! My ultimate aim is to get to the Nurburgring with some guys form another car forum is use.

I cant take credit for the engine bay welding but it removed all the old metal and cut the plates and helped out where i could!!

This isnt too bad, but was cut out and plated anyway.

Headlight panel and i then removed the crossmember. Killed many spot weld drills!!

New metal being welded in. A Harry Hockley plate kit was also welded in to aid with strength within the engine bay.

The bay was also stitch welded to help strengthen the bay.

All painted up with my new compressor!! I have loads more pics but didnt want to flood you all with my first post!!

I modified my slam panel the other day. This now has a removable middle so i welded some nuts to the mounting plates! Not a massive job, but it was the first time with my new welder! I have some old sheet i'm going to have a play with before attempting anything major. There is a small hole in the nearside rear wheel arch and i'm removing the spare wheel well. So that will need a sheet welding in place.

Not a massive hole, but start small and work up!!

I will then cut this out and plate over it. A brace bar will be welded in underneath for strength aswell.

Dont think there is anything else, but if there is i'm not scared of having a go!!

It is now. It has a fair bit of rot before i/we started. Mainly in the front end though. Boot floor, battery tray is still good.

You won't need a Ripspeed Viper running in front to clear the way, then! but DO go and spend a few euro's going round a few times there is nowt like it anywhere else. Have fun

I should be doing a Ring trip next year, as well as organising a cross european road trip.

You'll have to let us know what show's you're taking the old girl too and I'll come over and have a looksee. Hoping to get my project car to the shows next year as I've missed far too many.

Have you seam welded the front end? Seen on another forum that its not advise because it basically negates the front crumple zone, which in a crash prevents the rest of the car crumpling, thus injuring the occupants. Are you fitting a cage?

Nice work, nova's are alot of fun to drive, my first car was a the non fuel injection 1.4 SR, was a great little car, fun and handled very well and predicibly as standard.

Yes engine bay has been seam welded and has a Harry Hockley motorsport plate kit. It helps with eliminating flex as i am fitting a 2.0 engine.

I dont intend on crashing it so crumple zones are not an issue. But then it is like a tin can as standard anyway... I front ended my first one and that was a mess!!
