I hope this is in the correct place.
After much research and trawling through German welding forums I went and bought one of these.

And a 20l Argon 4.6 bottle and a few accessories to give me this set up.

I looked through welding forums from Germany and Austria and could not find any major number of bad reviews for Stahlwerk welders, most were quite positive.
I also spoke directly to Stahlwerk who were very helpful and even invited my to come and try before I buy - unfortunately they are about 5 hours drive away.
They confirmed that the welders are guaranteed for 2 years (standard here in Germany) with part availability / support for a further 3 years.
Anyway a set it up and checked out all its functions, they all work.
I spent an hour "practicing" with the TIG torch and then gave it a whirl on the only piece of flat steel that I had lying around - a piece of 5mm plate.

Wow have I got a lot to learn!
And the UV output is incredible.
Unfortunately it was too hot to work in the garage so I had to go swimming.
Today I'm going to rummage around in our works scrap bins and gather some bits of ally and stainless (unfortunately we don't use mild steel).
Cheers
