Just like to say thanks for the excellent service from weldequip. Excellent packing and everything in the box all as it should be.

Also I have pestered him with lots of questions over the last few weeks and he’s been very helpful, cheers mate.

Anyway I will take some pics soon and you will be able to give your constructive criticism about my first attempts at tig welding (no sniggering please)

If you have gas welded you should be alright with tig, if you have the 206i its all the dials that take time to learn. Problem i find is keeping the tungsten close but not touching the metal, and controlling the filler rod. Can vouch for weldequip would buy from him again.

Never done much gas welding, but mig and arc I have done before. I have been reading a lot of bits on the net about tig and there is one thing I read that might be helpful to you Don.

They call it "walking the cup" and from what I can gather the ceramic cup is used as a guide. Place the ceramic bit "the pink sleeve?" on the work piece and push the ceramic along and this gives you some help in keeping the tungsten away from the work. I imagine this will involve holding the torch and filler rod at a crazy angle but if it works what the hell?

Trouble i had was reading the instructions, forgot it by the time i put them down. Took a couple of days just to remember what which switch did what. Is an easy machine to use and get good results with.
