I am just getting ready for the arrival of my 151 (due tomorrow weather permitting).
I've already sorted an uprated earth clamp from here and am toying with trying gas welding as I am reading on here that it makes for an easier/nicer weld.
I was going to go for a 90 but changed it to a 151 so I would have more flexibilty with thicker metals.
I am a little worried however after reading a comment that said this type of welding machine is only good on thicker metals (3-4mm). Does this mean I will have trouble welding 1.5-2mm steel? I hope not as this is the sort of thickness I will welding the most!

I welded 0.9mm with my 130EN and it has the same lower current setting. It was even done on 100% CO2.

That was with 0.8mm wire. With 0.6mm and argon mix, it would be no problem on thin stuff.

There must be many thousands of restored cars and auto projects that have been done using the machine you have bought... it will do the job fine.

Sure, the 151EN works just fine on thin metal, especially with argon mix, as Scott says.

It can even do body panels down to 0.8 or 0.9 mm using gasless wire, with some practice, ( I'm personally down to 0.9 mm so far), but the job is not so pretty as with gas, and there is a tendency to blow through until you get used to it. Gas is easier.

The great thing about the 151EN is that it is a good all-rounder, and its portability using gasless wire comes in very handy for any outside jobs away from home. A good basic no-frills machine.
