my mig

hi guys, im new to this welding game, i have played about with a different mig to the one i have just bought that was a clarke 105n,the new one is a draper mw151at and everytime i go to use it it blows all the power in my garage,which is on a dfferent trip unit to the house,anybody got any idea how i can stop this happening, cheers peasjay

Need to do a bit of checking,

What rating / type of breaker feeds the garage?

Does it trip the power as soon as you turn it on?

Are you trying to weld on maximum settings? try minimum first

Are you talking about an earth fault tripping an RCD or over-current tripping an MCB?

It doesnt trip when i switch it on , i can actually start to weld,but when i stop welding and restart to weld the power trips out, i do believe it is an overcurrent problem, is there anything i can do to stop this, i will check what the feed is to the garage and get back to you, thanks guys

how big is the breaker in the house, if it`s only a 16amp or something small and your running lights, heaters etc in there as well could well be too small, really could do with a dedicated supply for these things, shouldnt be too bad to fit a second board for the garage if you plan on doing a bit of welding and know a friendly electrician

hey guys, thanks for your help, i have had the mig tested and found that its faulty, i have been in contact with the guy i bought it off and he is going to pay for the repair. result
