My lift has fallen apart

Can anyone help with repair of this please? Looks like a snapped axle. Lift is currently blocking access, so not sure how I will get it back inside yet!

Can you improvise some rollers from scaffold tube or the likes and move it back in the shop with a pry bar, gently away? Cant see enough to advise further

Looks to me like the weld has failed, rather than the axle snapped. Some disassembly of the unit above the weld to gain access would be required to clean the hole. Clean the end of the shaft and re-weld from above. If I'm looking at it correctly.

Got the car on stands to do a couple of jobs, but that is where the lift lives.

Well it is now spitting with rain. This is the issue I have getting it into the workshop on my own...

How about one of those round or triangular furniture moving dollies with swivel castors, that might be enough to get it inside.

Would your trolley jack pad, go over that welded boss and jack it up then wheel it or take the pad off then make alittle adapter that will fit in the hole left and into the hole in the jack ??

It will roll when inched with a pry bar on tubes or bars etc. Think Stonehenge! You can also try a drag on a heavy canvass tarp or carpet section but that takes a few guys

I know nothing about these, but have moved lathes etc before using just crowbars.

My gf and I have moved more than one Rayburn with crowbars and scaffold rollers.

If the wheels are not locked, I'm sure you won't have issues with a crowbar, and, even if they are, it'll still be fine, just slower.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

With some help from a friend, we jacked up the back and put it somewhere else in the car park, pending repairs. There was no way it was going to go up the ramp! I only managed a couple of jobs today, rather than the full itinery sadly, I do rely on that lift.

Next problem is how to repair it.

If that bit failed like that you'd better check the actual lifting bit unless you want to imitate a pancake.

It looks like the failure is corrosion of a crack in the metal, looking at the damage. The rest of the lift is as new, so worth sorting. It looks like quite a stripdown to get to it, unless it is just a push fit maybe. I am thinking that the axle could be set onto the trolley wheel section and hooked into the bearing in the main unit.

Got the piece out of the trolley, just the piece in the main body to extract somehow. I am hoping it is just a push fit.

It looks like the stub axle is welded into the bottom plate and then the trolley with the bearing slides onto it.

Surely that pin was just welded (badly) into the frame, the top of the pin just pushed up into the hole then weld has been blobbed on top , so the hole needs cleaning out and re-welding but properly this time even the strengthening boss weld doesn't look that brilliant.
or could you clean up the end of the pin then drill and tap and put a 20mm bolt or bigger, through from top with a large solid washer/spacer on it and just bolt the pin in place

I am guessing the bolt holding the bearing up is 10mm so the top brgs is 40 ish mm id ??
so plenty of meat to tap into.
