hi every one..
this is MY first weld too, (for a few years) not a pretty site.
seems the opposite to
luccass_j weld ... ?
the welder was on loan to me , but its gone now
hope to get my own mig whe i can
Moved to it's own thread rather than hijack someone else's.
You need to turn YOUR gas on too!
One other thing, that sheet looks like zintec (zinc coated)?
You really shouldn't be practicing on that, get some clean uncoated steel as welding zinc gives off nasty fumes which can make you quite ill.
hi woz, thanks for the advice.
yes it was zinc plated sheet for car repairs and also i was welding out side, may be the breeze blown the gas way from the working area. was only a small bottle too.
hope to get my own mig one day, think i would like to do this as a hobby !
got big ideas in mind, like building a BBQ
oh you havent finished yet on the big ideas i can tell you that one from another novice welder but ive used arc often swapping over to mig now
as goes for welder machine you have to decide what you want and how much you consider paying for it as ive found the same thing its costly but ive got there
its either new or second hand, car boot and in an auction is not an option as you cannot test the machine first or use it and to my shock and horror i know someone that got one from an auction and now wants me to look at it
if you use ebay dont pay through the nose for a machine with gas bottle with the sale as the bottle you will lose unless its a full bottle of coarse
welders can be bought on here new from welderquip i think good machines from read ups and reviews from members on here and good service
so the choice is yours after all good luck and enjoy your welding
certainly will enjoy, it will be worth waiting for a portamig , been wanting one for a long time, and i know they are good at what they do - even going down to 15 amps is very good.
the machine i used was a sealy 185 supermig, thats quite a handy tool. 30 to 185 amps, nice torch etc. but sadly had to return it.
looking forward to arcing up !
