my first welding project

i decided to get a spare bonnet and weld an extension on it to give the car a different look.
first i made a template from cardboard then cut out the shape from a sheet of steel and weld it to the bonnet then make one or two adjustments with the grinder until i was happy with the shape. applied a bit of filler to help blend it in.

today i trial fitted it, now to chop the grill to suit then get it all painted

its a universal NACA duct, very similar to the astra vent.

i realised the number plate wasnt strictly legal when they arrived, no space. they made it exactly as i entered the letters and numbers on the plate designer but fortunately i've not been pulled for it and its passed an mot with it. there are far worse ones out there.

Oh yes - much worse out there but the boys in blue and MOT test stations seem to have a real thing for them at the moment - any spacing errors at all

Well if some folk didn't take the proverbial it migh not happen. Ah no wait: if the ANPRs can't read it then no income can be made

Heaven forbid that some real crime might be detected.

Actually I find that most 'personalised ' plates seem to spell T W A T for some reason...

Thats the excuse they trot out but actually they cope very well with spacing iregularities - they don't cope so well with extra bolts and doctored letters

Heaven forbid that some real crime might be detected.

Catching real criminals cost money and very little chance of the costs being recovered - motorists however........

Strange that I'm still yet to be pulled for my 'fench' plates on my Peugeot

They do look quite well made though especially for £28 (P&Pinc)

This mornings comedy idiot was the genious, on the phone, charging through the traffic, dodgy overtakes and tailgating everything, was a newish silver RangeRover, reg. plate P1 POO.

I suppose if you've already announced to the world that you're a sh*thead, you might as well live up to it...
