My first project was a 16' x 4' car trailer, it was that size because a mate of mine got me some 20' lengths of angle iron! It was free so I couldn't refuse it, then I had to decide what to build. I never painted it though.
A superb job. Marvellous.
Can we have a close up of the actual welds - I would like to see how the weld beads lay etc. My first job had haphazard weld runs.

it's for just one quad, I have a 18' flat bed trailer when I need to take more. ya I'll take some pics of my welds for ya, probally get them on here on monday.
Very good looking trailer. How long did it take you to make. I have tried to find some plans for a trailer similar to the one you made. Could not tell from the picture how does the gate stay open when you need to haul longer material.
I bet your proud of it, and to think how much something like that would cost if bought new, my guess is the welder new and materials still amount to much less, not including your labour time of course which i'm sure you enjoyed anyway (when things match up and go right )
where I have the latches for a pin to go through to hold the gates closed match up with some brackets on the side of the trailer when opened all the way then you just drop a pin through to hold them there, I can take some picks of it if you want.
Very interested in seeing your trailer, looks very neat. I am also building a similar sized trailer as a first project. Mine is purpose built as a sheep shearing holding pen and shearing platform. I would like to know which mesh product you used for the floor as I think it may be suitable for my trailer as well.
