Does it fit in the car when assembled? If yes quick coat of exhaust black itll look great.
If no its nice work anyway. Put flowers in it and give it to the mrs for christmas.
Seriously though you should be proud of your self, any one who has even attempted such things will know how much work and time has gone into that!

That's quite good for a first attempt. The only experience I have of anything similar was welding a cracked manifold back up and that was hard enough
Hi guys, thank you for constructive criticism ! Yes, as Andy guessed i have a 1.9 tdi quattro audi a4 (amongst other toys) with a ported cylinder head, aftermarket forged rods, 11 mm injector pump and big nozzles. The car had about 220 Bhp with the previous turbo- a bv43- but i since sold it to make room for a gtb2056vl. The turbo in the poctures is a volvo jobbie, spools better than the gt1749v that was originally fitted on the car and will support 250 Bhp without much bother but i have a few different turbos to choose from if 250Bhp is not enough...I'd guess an Audi of some sort knowing Chris.
Off topic, he is the vw/Audi King fixer, not much he can't sort out

Nice project, and a very good first attempt. A quick 10mins in a blast cabinet, will easier on the eye.
What Volvo turbo are you using. I've been stung with them before, the hotside cracks(T5). Volvo won't supply parts, so you have to buy a new unit. Not cheap even with contacts

Cracking effort for a first shot fella, although I'd like to see the back of the welds. Did you back purge? If not, it's something to consider for next time.
It's a Volvo/garret gtb2056vl. They are easy to come by and cheap as chips. Also they are easy to upgrade, the gtb2260vk fits plug and play in the exhaust housing...I did not back purge the manifold but the joints were quite good butt so the "sugaring" was minimal and only required little grinding with a TCT/carbide burr...

It does look good. Just hope you have back purged. A mate of mine built a manI for a 500 bhp kadet. It kept cracking with the heating up and cooling down. Guess what. He never back purged.!

I too have only ever tackled a pair of manifolds for my v8 build, bloody loads of work! Hats off to you, looks better than my efforts
Thank you very much ! I am trying to get set up for back purging, this was just an exercise to see how it will get, i am pretty sure it will not be the first i will make ! Cheers for the thumbs up !
