Hi guys, first post on here but been reading past topics and using the the tutorials for a while now
I'm looking at getting an AC/DC TIG welder to use at home, there was a Murex 355 Transtig down the road from me that I was offered but declined then it sold however the seller has had no contact from the buyer etc etc so it may be back up for sale again at the end of the week/next week
It was going to be £500, new torch (water cooled), water pump, stick welder lead and a trolley, possibly a large canister of argon too. Should probably have snapped it up tbh but thats life isn't it
get offered something, think about it, decline, then want it again
So my question is and this is based if it comes up for sale again (if not may get the miller equivalent off ebay)
They are a single phase welder that can run off three phase etc but I only have single at home (where I'd use it) as well as minimal storage space. So I know it can be rewired for single phase by moving the pins as I looked online at the manual and I will never really have a use for its full 325A power but would it be able to do 6mm steel (may root it slightly) without tripping the breaker all the time ?
I'd be running it off the old socket for the deep fat fryer (ex hotel) so should have a decent fuse on it ?
Oh it would also be stored outside off the floor in a dry but probably rather cold shed
Heres the back plate
Other question is if this is not suitable for home use would a Lincoln 160t-pulse be ok for home use on thick stuff ? I make off road stuff at home like bumpers, winch trays etc
