Murex 135 help needed

Hi got hold of a old murex 135 but its in desperate need of a clean and may be refurb my first question is can I brush it all down inside or will static take it out ?
Or what's the best way to clean it up am waiting for a new earth strap as the old ones snapped off from.were u plug it in from ?
Will.be cleaning the contacts up and going fro. There poor thing looks like it's been through he'll and back
Just not sure if it's worth saving or not but been told.there good machines
Any advice will.be great full

Hello and welcome to the Forum !

All Murex welders are ( were ? ) high-quality professional machines, so this 135 is definitely worth saving.
If it can be saved... apart from dirty, it looks quite corroded, maybe it was kept in a damp location. You may end up having to open and clean and re-tighten or re-crimp a lot of the connections. The contactor - the large heavy-duty relay which switches on the main welding transformer - in Photo #5 looks quite badly corroded.
I would start with a vacuum cleaner with crevice nozzle and a stiff brush to get rid of the dust, some of which may be conductive metallic grinding dust. There are no highly-sensitive electronic components in these old machines, so there shouldn't be any danger from static electricity. Use a degreaser and cloth to remove oily dirt.
Apart from the usual lubricant, there are "Degreaser" and "Contact Cleaner" versions of WD-40 which may help. However, just spraying that around will not remove corrosion and burns from inside the contactor or between bolted connections, you will have to open them.
When everything is clean, try powering up and pressing the torch trigger. The gas valve should open, the wire should feed, and you should get from 15 to 30 volts DC between the tip of the MIG torch and the work clamp ( "Earth" ), depending on the setting of the rotary power selector switch.
