Mounting a coventry die head

Anyone have any bright ideas how to mount a 3/4" Coventry die head onto my Boxford lathe? I've machined and fitted an MT2 stub arbor up the back of it, and it just spins in the tailstock (it does say in the die head manual that this won't work very well)…. Ideally I'd like to mount it to the top of the cross-slide, but I wonder if I could get away with mounting it onto a toolholder like a boring bar?

Make a holder that bolts to the cross slide, then drill and ream it using the lathe chuck do you’re dead on position and put mark on cross slide for position repeatability

I was wondering how to get it central, good idea.... I've got a t-slotted cross-slide so that will work.

I turned up and cylindrical ground MT3 holders with suitable sockets for mine on my Colchester Master so I could hold them in the tail stock

I would ideally like to hold this in the tail stock, but the ratio of die head to tailstock is all wrong on the boxford. And I would much prefer to run them on the boxford as I have a carriage stop etc, and the boxford is in the heated workshop, unlike the leblond which is in a damp barn

I was in the same dilemma re how to mount. I was going to do as Pressbrake suggested and mount to the cross slide. Also opened up the option of fitting a Jacobs chuck for self feeding drilling.

Ended up acquiring a capstan tailstock and my die head bolts straight into the socket so problem solved.

I certainly wouldn't want to subject mt 2 to a diehead

Depends entirely what you are threading. 6BA brass is no problem 1" HT steel may cause the odd glitch
