I tow with a xlwb sprinter and it's not usually a problem but out road isn't very wide and people park anywhere without thinking.they can be ok but not as good as main wheel drive types which is why you hardly see them now, if you have a heavy trailer and its wet movement can be interesting and slow and sometimes non existent
What do you tow with ? if you can make a front removable hitch for your tow vehicle its a doddle.
That looks a darn sight better than the jockey wheel type my mate had.I was thinking this type

This is what I'm thinking, It's only got to take the nose weight of the trailer 100kgs or so but would it push 3.5 ton?Looks like the sort of thing you could make out of a butchered mobility scooter.

I was thinking this type
If a scooter can be made into one, it would be simple enough to put a trolley jack on top of it and mount the ball on that.I made a similar one once.
Trouble with that type is they need a lot of nose weight to work well, the bigger the tyres the less grip on wet concrete/tarmac, also four wheel trailers need the front pair of wheels up clear of the ground to steer easily.
Most likely fine on the dry/flat but the slightest slope or unevenness, especially when turning will stop them dead.
I wouldn't be any better off doing this as I'd still have no lock to get in, diving the van in forward is tight without a trailer attached. You could always use a front towball - seen plenty on Land Rovers but never a standard car before!
