Two blackbird engines combined into a V8 I think proper mad people.
The head honcho is a school teacher who has obviously got what it takes whatever that is.

It's cheating really though ! Hardly a production engine. Have had thoughts about trying for this record myself
My plan was to use 3 or 4 Triumph 4 cylinder motors coupled together. Even in standard tune that would be 380 or 508 BHP ! Supercharged it could be 570 or 760 BHP !
Then it would be a proper British record !
I'll bet Triumph would be up for sponsoring it, as back in the day, Triumph held the record with one the old bikes.

No need to string motors together. Jack Frost has a busa that kicks out over 440bhp. And a mate of mine has tuned them to over 560bhp.

I've watched Jack at Elvington he only manages 3 runs before his back tyre is shot. That's less than 15miles, and around 6 of those are to and from the pits. Total nutter

Thats alot of power for one motor though, multiples reduce the load per motor, and 12 or 16 cylinders sound better !
Downside is transmission complexity !

Mine will put out more when I turn it up. Currently 405hp.

There's a UK records meet at Elvington in a couple of weeks. Jack's gotta be favourite if he's ready in time. My mate was going to be competing until he did this on his shakedown run last week:

Looking at current motorbike engines, they supply large amounts of reliable power from a very small package, so why not fit two together and add a power boosting device such as a turbo or supercharger. But fitting two engines together is not without its problems either. If we took the drive from both engines gearboxes we could run into problems with harmonics running up and down the drive train and destroying everything, combined with the fact each gearbox is handling more than double the power it was designed for. Why are we having two gearboxes anyway when we only need one strong gearbox.

In practice, this has been proven to work very well. I know a guy who used two GSXR1000 engines through a purpose-made transfer box to make his autograss car pull wheelies on the straights.
