Motorbike - spares or repair?

My old '96 Suzuki bandit is refusing to start, bought a new battery, cleaned the plugs but it just won't catch. It never liked the heavy rain and after riding to my parents at Easter it spluttered and now sits on their drive whilst my tools are 50 miles away. It's pretty tired (47k on the clock) so I emptied my ISA and bought a new bike . I simply don't have any time, money or inclination to mend it, I'm sure if I spent a day breaking it I'd make some £ but time is so precious at the moment, posting stuff drives me bonkers.

I'm loathed to eBay the bandit because of the numerous time wasting idiots but what other option is there? I'm not on any motorbike forums and don't want to join one just to sell something. Advice please oh wise forum users

I always sell cars and bikes on auto trader or bike trader. One tip I will share is buy a pay as you go mobile and use that number then you can turn it off when its sold and you dont get people ringing you a few weeks later or at silly o clock in the morning or night

If you are on facebook there is a group The bike bay. Seems a lot of bandit bikes and parts pass through there. Unfortunately you need to deal with idiots in all walks of life so I can't rule out the fact there may be some on there??

It's a bit grown up but really good value for money I think. Mind you, 'twas a long ride yeasterday back to London from Devon but I broke up the journey by visiting our Italian buddy in Bath

Unfortunately I'm not on Facebook, I didn't realise you could buy and sell stuff on there, interesting. I like the idea of bike trader, especially with a contact number I could dispose of later, I guess you still run the risk of nutters though.

Thanks for the advice guys, a friend has now expressed an interest so I'll give him dibs, if it goes tits up I'll pm you Tracer, although remember I'm down south so the cost of fuel to trailer it oop north may preclude your enthusiasm!

If you use Autotrader they offer a free mobile phone number that redirects the call to your mobile (same for landline if required) the redirect is removed as soon as you sell the bike, so you only get "pestered" while the bike is for sale.
I've used it a few times and can recommend it.
