Needed a luggage system for my smaller bike and nothing suitable seemed to be available, so good excuse to make something! Started off with the usual CAD package ( Kellog conflakes box program). Cut out the real item from some 3mm cr plate that I had in store and folded up in the homemade "press brake" .
Next had to turn up a simple former for the tube bending and then formed the tube by the sand filling and heating method. Also made some side pannier supports to hold my soft pannier bags. Finished in 1K rattle can epoxy primer and some gloss black.
The bike is a Keeway RKV125c made in China, bought because it fits nicely inside the camper van and I think it looks rather cute! Planning a trip up to some of the Scottish islands, Mull, Lewis and Harris later this year, and as I am now too old, ancient and decrepidatious to ride all the way up to Scotland I'll take the bike up in the van, then leave the van on a campsite near the ferry terminal.
Now working on a second rack for my Royal Enfield Meteor 350. Details to follow.
