Hi fellas, anybody know if a 1400 rpm 4 pole single phase 240v motor will run on two poles? not to increase the speed, but im just checking its working correctly.
Ive made a log splitter, but its splitting the 4 inch logs but struggles with anything above that and just stalls the motor. I had great expectations for the 3hp 2.2kw unit but after the build im left disappointed.
The motor itself starts fine , but im just checking if it will run with a pair of poles out?
Before i bite the bullet and buy a 3kw 4hp unit anybody know of a way of checking this is running right first?
I wondered if two poles were out ,would it would speed up, also i wondered if one pair of poles was backwards, would it still run albeit at a lower power?
A new unit is about £250 quid, so you can see why i wanted to make sure ive got this right before i replaced it, thanks fellas Pauly
