Motor wiring help please.

I'm hoping one of you knowledgeable electrically gifted people can point me in the right direction, I'm still going ahead with building my daughter a pig roasting rotisserie despite having my hollow box section stolen, I'v just managed to get a very nice Parvalux motor and gearbox but need help with wiring,
Inside the motor connecting box is a terminal block 1 black wire and 2 white wires with separate earthing screw to the motor body,
I connected a live to the black and neutral to one of the white wires, the motor just buzzed but would run if spun by hand in either direction, same happened when I swapped the neutral to the other motor white wire, Is my problem because there isn't a capacitor and if so from the info below what size/type will I need to get and where do I wire it to,

P.S. the revs will be further reduced using sprockets and driving chain,a little it of the old trial and error for best cooking speed, unless you can advise what revs I should be aiming for from previous experience.

it may need a capacitor to start. best bet is give parvalux a ring and ask if they have technical dept .give them the motor details there open from 8 thirty in morning be tues now with it being bank holiday . there tel number is 01202 512575

A bit confused here!

I have a tumble drier motor with 2 white & 1 black. Black to live, capacitor accross the 2 whites and neutral to one of the whites, depending which way you want it to rotate.

for the ones we build at work we use a 240v motor with a 90deg reduction box which reduces it down to 3rpm which is purfect for it.

I'm not very clued up when it comes to anything but simple plug or switch wiring, I was going to ring Parvalux but was too curious to wait till Tuesday!!! do you know what sort of size capacitor I might need.
It's a really lovely little solid machine, should do the job admirably as long as I can shield it from the heat enough.

Thanks for the rev info, just off the top of my head I was going to aim for about 1rpm but maybe this too slow, what do you use to stop the pig rotating on the spit rod?

If you go to the download section of the parvalux site there is some info in the "2008 AC products catalouge" pdf. On page 6 it has some wiring info and diagrams that might help.

I have just been on the parvalux site, the motor appears to be an SD 13, from what ai can figure out it says 240v 6mfd, Will check your suggestion now thanks

what do you use to stop the pig rotating on the spit rod?

What about using a tube slightly wider than the spit rod, tap the side of it to accept a decent size bolt, weld on a couple of stainless steel prongs to the outside of the tube.

Put one at each end of the pig, ram the prongs into the flesh, then tighten up the bolts.

I'm not a great fan of welding a nut on and using a tapbolt onto the spit tubing, pig will be fairly heavy and an unbalanced load needing the bolt to be very tight and would maybe damage the tubing I was thinking of making a sliding split clamp with the driving prongs but tightened with a pinch bolt,rather like a bike seat adjuster clamp,

This and this appear to be the most common design which is what I was suggesting, but there is another design involving the same design as above, but rather than using a bolt, a hole is drilled through the spit bar and a pin/bolt is run right through. Like this

In a couple of the pictures I have seen, there appears to be a couple of brackets, probably U shaped, which go in through the cavity and out through the back, washers and nuts are added to the ends. I am pretty sure its to keep the beasty in place, avoiding it sagging in the middle, preventing it from being turned.
