motor trouble

i picked up a dead cold saw cheap.single phase,was smoking and static when given power.
replaced the two capacitors and now no smoke,but most of the time has trouble starting,and needs a strong twist of the shaft to get going.sometimes still wont start.i cant feel much play in the shaft when powered off,but big resistance when having trouble starting.does it sound like a bearing issue?

i have very little knowledge of motors

Could be a worn, dirty or stuck centrifugal switch.

are they easy to get at?

Can you disconnect the motor mechanically to see if the shaft turns freely by hand?

yes,well the shaft protrudes at the rear to power a mechanical suds pump.turns freely and i cant feel play in any axis

delighted,working now for less than €100 outlay.just needs a clean up
pedrazzoli mec brown 77,will stick a pic up tomorrow

somebody tried to replace the bearing before,but looks to have used one that should have been immersed in oil.sealed one in now

what sort of paint is best to restore this.i.e stand up to a bit of mechanical abuse and odd splash of oil/coolant.or just stick to something basic like hammerite?

picked up another saw,but cant find any info on it
looks like DBM Aviano but cant find any info from google.
no motor plate either.does anyone know it?
