Hi,
I'm currently welding sills onto my Landrover Disco, appart from wishing I had bought one with intact sills (the lure of a good price got me, again!), I was wondering about PLUG welds.
The new sills are butt welded in about 2cm below the door seal flanges, I've used seamwelds for these in short bursts to avoid distortion. Where the inner and outer sill join underneath creating a double skin from the two lips, I have used plug welds as descibed on the Aston Martin tutorial, 7mm holes (havn't got a 7.5mm drill bit) approx 25mm apart.
What I was wondering is whether the plug welds are OK on there own or will I need to put in some seam weld in the dreaded upside down position to satisfy the MOT inspector?
Thanks,
Steve (littlestwoo)
