MOT question

My car's in for an mot tomorrow. The rear window wiper has stopped working and I'm wondering if it's required to be working. It may just be a fuse, but mobility issues due to cellulitis mean any investigation will have to wait (thanks Mr Ford for fitting the fuses in the passenger footwell )

My question is, if a working wiper is required for an mot, can/will I get away with just removing the entire wiper as a temporary measure?

not part of the MOT (unless thats changed for very modern cars), just leave the wiper as it is

Pretty sure as long as you have door/wing mirrors you dont even need to see out the back

When I had a car with a rear wiper,by the time my first mot were due it had seized due to lack of use,it never failed,nor for the next 17 years,on the wiper front anyway.

Rear wiper not part of the MOT test...

(unless it is a Hackney carraige undergoing a Taxi test - then anything fitted has to work)

Lots of small vans do not have windows in the rear doors. Almost all private cars used in UK with tail gates have adjustable rear seats which enable a "van style" loading bay to be provided. This space can easily be filled to prevent the driver observing road conditions at the rear using the interior mirror. As long as the exterior rear view mirrors are present and adjustable no problem can exist.
